Enduro Racer

Comments: Well, I believe in corporal punishment about as much as I believe in that story being true, but I do have a somewhat related story about my own mother that I often think of with a certain fondness. We were pretty poor growing up, with a two bedroom one bathroom little cracker box house. Anyway, up until I was maybe ten or so, I would shower with my mother to save both time and money (municipal water isn't free). As I grew a little older, around six or seven, I started getting erections in the shower as a result of who knows what; the soapy water, the washing and scrubbing of certain strategic areas, an early appreciation of the naked female form, whatever. In any event, my mother would never fail to comment on my "state", but all she'd ever say was "you really like mommy, don't you?" and I would innocently respond "yes", utterly oblivious to any sort of sexual innuendo. Sometimes she'd even give it a quick little squeeze as she helped me rinse off. There was absolutely nothing sexual about it, and nothing of the sort ever happened during my adolescence. My mother was open about sexual matters, but she made sure to respect my privacy and I tried to repay her by always respecting hers. Regardless, we eventually moved into a house with a lavish two bathrooms and this (and the fact that I was just too old to be showering with mommy anymore) meant that these small moments of tenderness had to come to an end.

Lord of the Sword

Comments: My step-daughter walked in on me one time when I was masturbating. Nothing ambiguous about it either; I was stark naked at the end of the bed watching a porno with two chicks going at it and was really giving myself a vigorous "beating", shall we say. Due to the fact that real life is nothing like a letter published in Penthouse Forum, she screamed, said something to or about God, and ran down the hall as fast as she could. My wife, being the involved parent that she is, decided that, instead of pretending that the whole episode never happened or was some sort of bad dream (like normal people would do), we should talk to Lacey (my step-daughter) about what she had seen and answer any questions she may have had. Being a dutiful husband, I reluctantly agreed, as did Lacey eventually. What followed were some of the more awkward moments of my life and no doubt some of the more uncomfortable minutes of Lacey's as well, though she only had sixteen years of embarrassment experience under her belt. She did have questions, though: "Why do you still do that when you're married?", "Aren't you and Mom having sex?", "You and Mom aren't getting divorced, are you?", "What were you watching?", "Is the lock on your door broken?"...I could go on and on. I managed to give satisfactory, if unpleasant, answers to most all of her questions and she asked my wife (her mother if any morons are reading this) if she could go to her room now and sulk in a mortified stupor (not her exact words). Diana (my wife, Lacey's mother) excused her and then thanked me for my candor and for trying to be as progressive a parent or guardian as she was. She later told me that Lacey mentioned that she thought "it" was pretty big, which would tend to boost one's ego a bit if you had any faith that a sixteen-year-old homeschooled girl knew what "pretty big" was. Such is life.

Phantasy Star

Comments: Fantastic RPG! I was literally immersed and into playing this game for hours almost every night for a good year before finally defeating it. Everything from the story line to characters were excellent and in my opinion sheer genius. It was a huge adventure and boasted the best graphics, sound and game play for its day. Way ahead of its time! Other role players got more notoriety and even claimed to put the genre on the map but I would have to say this game was the standard by which any role player should be judged and if any game of this genre were to come close to perfect this would be it hands down. The Phantasy Star series continues to this day but none (as good as some of them were) could rival this the original. I would love to be able to play this game again on a newer platform with updated graphics and sound leaving the story and characters intact exactly as they were. Unfortunately this is a different time and I don't think we will ever see it or its like again. An absolute true classic!

Comments: This combo-pack was great to have as a new gamer back in 1988. I still enjoy it now, but I have to admit that the Xbox graphics are better. But graphics can only take you so far. Using the XR211 Zillion gun is still the best way to go, as opposed to the NES orange-tipped phaser. What a wuss-ladden gun that thing was!

Missile Defense 3-D

Comments: Good points guys. But I think this game is a little difficult. You have to stand pretty close to your set to hit the missiles flying faster in levels 3 on. I enjoy it, though, and think the 3D rendering is still very impressive for its day. As with Space Harrier 3D, I wish I had the glasses when I was a tot.

Comments: I enjoyed this game. Again, we are judging them on their respective platform, so it's not fair to compare it to the Genesis version because of the variance in capabilities. Levels 3 on were difficult, I must admit. Are there any codes for this game?

Phantasy Star

Comments: Ahhh... those were the days. I had gotten Phantasy Star for the Sega Master System when it first came out. Back in those days I never knew what a role playing game was. Looking at the package I didn't know what to expect. I didn't even play it right away but from the first time I did I was hooked. Easily the best game on the platform and for its day. Great (no) excellent story line, great graphics and sound. This adventure was huge! It literally took me a year to complete and that was even with the many calls I made to Sega of America 800 line at the time and the tips and maps they sent! I still rate this as probably the best role player and role playing series ever and the standard by which any role player should be measured. Lunar was good too but was a bit cheesier over all as with other role players I've tried. I could easily be reeled back into playing this game all over again in a second and it would be awsome on one of the newer platforms. If your into retro and don't mind the now somewhat dated graphics and sound and if you can find it try your hand at this game and you'll experience some serious gaming from the 80'S.

Comments: I actually enjoyed the hell out of this game. True, the graphics, sound, and speed are lacking as stated in another comment, but the complexity and difficulty levels are all they should be from a flight simulator. I give this game a nine, due to the hours and hours I have spent playing it! (Can I play this on a SMSII? Please email me.)
