Comments: Hated this fucker! Every time I'd lose (which was every time I played the piece-of-shit) I'd get so fucking mad that I'd dick-slap my sister right on her forehead. A couple times I cock-whipped her hard enough to leave a mushroom bruise. It sounds terrible, I know, but she used to punch me in the danglers all the time, so it actually evened out most of the time.

Comments: Utter pantload. The only realistic reason why anyone could like the SMS version is that they are somehow channeling their (mostly misplaced) affection for the arcade version of Thunder Blade onto this 8-bit plasticized turd. Probably happened to all of us SMS users at one time or another, but this would be the most egregious example. Thunder Blade also gets high marks in the unfortunately large category of Master System games that have box-art that is more exciting than the actual game itself.

Comments: Damn good game. There was one of the last scenes, when you had to fly over a huge warship. I never made it. Usually I died on the scene where you had to fly over a river (axonometric graphic.) So it's a great game. I remember that there was a cheat, or something like that, when you died, you had to push down-right (or down-left?) and the 2 shooting button (or both?) and you could start again from the begining of the last level, but you could do this only two times in a game, and then came really the game over. Great memories. I was only 12 when i played.

Comments: this game is not hard @ all...the top-down view levels are pretty easy, if u suck hard u can just remember the order of the planes playing it once or twice... the 3-d levels r a little bit more difficult but hey, it's a 1988 game, it has many tricks: in the refinery level, when choppers comes from all over, stay in the lower-left corner of the screen. bullet will come all over u, but u won't die. in the caves level, the 3 waves of planes coming after the 3 caves can be avoided staying in 3 different corners of the screen, i don't rememba the order, but that's it. try it (guess it was botton right - bottom left - bottom right again). u'll say "man, i'm gone" but bullets won't hit u. the only level that can REALLY make u suck hard is the one on the sea...there are some phases in which u have planes coming PLUS boats shooting at a ridicoulous rate. so you can't use you invincible corner, you have to keep moving or boats will kill u, and so yeah, there u need a little bit of luck. but for the rest, u just have 2 learn "invincible corners". and when loads of tanks unload their ammo on u, just move in circle...start from, say, the bottom left corner, then go up into the top left corner, then left...and u'll be safe, there's really nothing difficult (except when, as i said, u encounter tanks + airplanes) cause hits does not anticipate your movements, they just follow u, so u just have to avoid going back or stop moving. don't even think 'bout destroying some thanks or airplanes...evade and survive. u can memorize the order in which tanks appears and get'em (above all in the 1st 3d level) but it's really not necessary. p.s. mass of children...don't give a low rating to a game just cause u suck at it...above all when that game is an important part of videogame history.

The graphics are great aswell as the sound and the first paerson mode when flying through the cave is so cool. They should of made a 3d version of thunderblade. Don't pay any attention to my last review

Comments: Absolute garbage. Probably the worst game my parents had the misfortune of buying for me. In some ways all video games could be deemed a waste of money, but at least some of them are enjoyable. This was an absolute bitch! Sorry, dad. Sorry, mom. It was all the worse because of the high hopes I had for this game. It does look great, doesn't it. Come to think of it, most of my favorite games were ones that I wasn't too sure about before I played them. That's a good lesson for the kids out there; keep your expectations low and you will be forever rewarded.

Comments: Thunder Blade. Those two words will forever remind me of the greatest disappointment I ever faced from my beloved Sega Master System. Thunder Blade ruined an entire Christmas for me, and that was back in the day when Christmas was fun, not the "Hey, great. I needed a new wallet" type Christmas that we face as adults. My parents kept asking me that year what I wanted for Christmas. Again and again I answered "Thunder Blade" each time more emphatically than the last. And they got Thunder Blade for me because they were and are great parents. How excited I became when I unwrapped and opened a large cardboard box only to find a cleverly concealed Mega Cartridge. I could hardly wait to play it having longed for this moment for what seemed like many months. The time had come. I played the game. The graphics were good. The sound effects were fairly good, the explosions being especially crisp. Then, after playing roughly fifteen minutes on that cold late December morning, I had progressed as far into that damnable game as I ever would. What was worse was that I instantly realized it. There would be no slow advance into higher levels as with After Burner or Space Harrier. No, for me there would be no slogging through this bastard. Over the months and years that followed I would occasionally play Thunder Blade again, but the outcome would never be any different, just as I had always known. The only change was that of a young boy's spirit crushed, a zest for life extinguished, a soul blackened by hatred. Hatred for Thunder Blade. Over time, this hatred turned to despair and frustration. Despair over a childhood destroyed. Frustration over an innocence lost, never to be regained. To this very day my life has been nothing more than a Jimmy Carter style malaise, an uneasiness broken only by either turning to the bottle or to a fleeting moment of sexual release by my own hand. My only consolation over the years was the realization that there was one man who may just hate Thunder Blade as much as I. That man? Roy Scheider, star of the film "Blue Thunder" of which Thunder Blade is an obvious yet shameless rip-off. He has to be pissed.

Comments: I used to play this religiously at the arcades when it came out. The arcade machine was fitted out like a real helicopter, only without the hood, and it would move side to side. Very Nice. The graphics also had that thirst-for-destruction feel to them. Alas, the SMS version did not. This was quite dull and lifeless actually.

Comments: This is far from the best game on the Master System, but as helicopter games go, I feel it was, and still is, among the best of them. I know graphics don't make the game, but the first time I saw this game, all I could say was "damn", and that wasn't nice to be saying at such a young age. The game looked awesome. It didn't play as well as it looked, but it didn't play bad. It's an overall fun game to play, and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a Master System game.
