unfortunately, i only posess the game gear version of this game, but i can tell you from that version that this one must be good. one of the most interesting and challenging RJS(run jump shoot) games ever. i wont pass up the SMS version if i ever see it.

amazing. one of the most innovative gun games ever, it needs to be remade. one of the reasons i dont like the nes as much as the sms is the variety and quality of gun games on the sms, and this is the game i point out to heathens...err, the uninitiated, as being an example.

i have to give sega an A+ for effort... but an F
for implementation. i'm sorry, but this game
should not even have been tried on anything
less than a 16 bit machine. the graphics are
blotches, the sound is awful, the game is
unplayable.

wonderful game! superior, even, to the game gear
version! i bought a gear master (not a master gear, mind you, a gear master) just to play this on my gear! actual, moving backgrounds! lovely music! ('slightly annoying'? my arse!)

well, its a mickey mouse game, and thats a big
negative... but the levels are varied, and the
balance of the difficulty is almost perfect!
(easy levels are super easy, hard levels are
super hard... the way it should be) if it were
alex kidd jumping and throwing things around,
i'd give it a 8, but mickey will have to settle
for 7.

much better than any other 8 bit, and some 16 bit,
remakes of choplifter. simple, yet challenging.
a must have for any sms owner!

a great game, but be forewarned, this is one heck
of a hard game, and probably impossible without some kind of turbo fire! the graphics are sweet, the music is simple and dancable, flicker/slowdown is minimal. if only i didnt suck so bad, i could see more of its beautiful levels...

its almost a shame phantasy star had to eclipse his game, as it is very high quality, and has an innovative interface, and very good music. but being second to phantasy star sealed its fate.
more people should know about this game. its better than anything the nes had to offer in rpg-dom.

great platformer, but... its insanely hard. i seem to remember massive returns of this and
its genesis version to various stores because
of it, kids crying on xmas morning because they
couldn't even beat the first level. ow.

i have a confession to make. i was a nintendo sheeple. now that i look back, and see that i could have been playing SMS SVS, instead of the nes version, and i weep. i feel robbed. robbed by nintendo. sweet sega, forgive me! in the name of
alex, sonic, and the holy alys, forgive me!

simplicity is this game's strenth. in so many shooters, the levels become so complex, the enemy hordes so numerous, that even a sega system would flicker! not so here. this is as much an exploring game as a shooter... may sound silly, since the world is 'round', and thus loops forever, but you spend so much time discovering the modes of your bot and how you affect enemies in them, and trying to find the way into the underground, that you cant help but explore this game! incredible what fun they can fit on a little 64K card!

the SMS had so many great platformers, it's hard to pick one as the best... and yet, for me, i have
to pick this one (alex, forgive me...) i like exploration games, and this is the best. the world is so big, and so varied, you just cannot get bored of it! there's just so much to do and see! this belongs alongside the universaly recognized greats alongside zelda, sonic, and doom... only one nagging tiny little annoyance, and that is the 'password save'. i ALWAYS loose written passwords. would it have been so hard to give it just a little battery memory, like phantasy star?

the black sheep of the SMS RPG smorgasboard... even though its so good, compared to what else is on the sms, it is ordinary. a sad situation, both for the SMS, and for the y's series.
