Comments: That's just some ignorant shit below...You can't technically "kill" ghosts with swords, but both they and demons can be effectively banished from the mortal realm with edged weapons if you know what you're doing. You either need an enchanted blade that was manufactured for the purpose, or you need to prepare the blade with a spirtually suitable oil.

Comments: Forgive the lateness of this reply, Rob, but in answer to your query it has to be said that your doubts are, indeed, correct: demons and their ilk cannot be killed by a sword or any other earthly weapon. Things are not, however, quite as cut and dry as they may seem. Demons can, in fact, be scared off or intimidated by such aggressive human actions, though exactly why this is so remains a mystery.

Comments: I have nothing to say about this super awesome game. Everything is really fun, the controls are a bit hard at first but after a few try you get the hang off it pretty quick and it is a really fun game. Although that damn practice to obtain that talisman thing is near impossible without save state abuse.

Comments: I am a guy who actually had a Nintendo clone system (the horrible and bad marketed Phantom System, by Gradiente of Brazil) back in the late 80s, but secretly always wished to have a Master System, like my best (and most intelligent) friends...But my parents would kill me if I had told them I wanted another videogame...And Kenseiden was always one the best. Thankfully, I make my own money now, and Tec Toy, a company from Brazil, is selling the amazing Master System 3 Collection, with 105 games in memory, including Kenseiden. I bought one, and can say that now, sixteen years late, I am finally fulfilled!

Comments: This is the best Master System game I played in my life! But don´t had a sequence.. :( But... Then... I´m Making a sequence in The Click Team´s TGF (The Games Factory) Engine and I´m making the music with square waves like a really 8 bit game! Perfect! When I finish the fist level I´ll upload that to my homepage. When I make this I´ll post here again and publish the link!

Comments: Ah, the memories. I remember struggling in vain against the floating blue skull of death and getting my ass handed to me by the huge guy with the metal club, not to mention shrieking and running away from the rolling blue pumpkins, the burning wagon-wheel, and the face-humping monkey demons. Come to think of it, this was a pretty weird game. The plot of the game is, of course, nonexistent. Some evil demons took over Japan one night while everyone else was getting drunk off fermented codfish-tequila or whatever, and the only survivor was your character, Hyato. You have to cross the country and wipe out all the demons. A deeper, more complex plot, I have never seen. The use of the Japanese setting and mythology was a great idea, and lends a sort of dark atmosphere that few games have. Maybe Metroid and Castlevania are comparable, and maybe this is even better. There are a lot of weird monsters and creatures here, and the bosses are tough. I remember freaking out when the second boss kept clubbing me do death with his mace. I later learned a valuable hint: even fat mutant bastards like him have vulnerable groins. Go for the jewels, and you can't lose. One interesting feature of the game were the "training rounds", or as I knew them, the "catch these arrows with your face" rounds, where, in theory, you could earn more health and items that would carry from level to level. Not that I ever actually passed them. The end of the game I wouldn't spoil, but it consists of two bosses- a wizard who looks like Noheart, and a big skull-face thing in fruity-looking red armour. When you beat them, you get a sort of Clint Eastwood lone-gun type of ending; it's pretty cool. And it's Shakespeare compared to the ending of, oh, say, Fantasy Zone. Kenseiden's sound effects were good, and the music was perfect. Catchy, Japanese-sounding and well-orchestrated. It would lend itself well to remixing, if you wanted to be a l33t underground SMS music guy. This and Wonderboy 3 are quite possibly the best games that the SMS ever had.

Comments: Kenseiden was my first SMS game. I bought it in Febrary/March 1991, when the SMS was something really new to me. Every game I played seemed to be a masterpiece and could hold me for hours, and hours, and hours. I loved Kenseiden just like I loved any other SMS game. Now, 10 years later, I look at it and I realize it's really a fantastic game, not something that just looked nice because I was used to play Atari 2600 games. The graphics, the music, the variety of enemies, the abilities you get defeating the bosses... Kenseiden has what today's games doesn't have: personality. It's intelligent, beautiful, challenging and extremelly captivating. Probably the best game developed exclusivelly for the SMS.

Comments: kenseiden truly was one of the great games of its time. the music was very nice and i liked the amount of enemies. even if you go back they were everywhere. the hardest part were those freakin' training levels. the only easy one was the one at the bottom after defeating the mummy. all the others were a pain. i loved the bosses. they really challenged you, especially the last thing. i don't know what it is. i just called it a she-male. but he/she really was tough. i was disappointed in warlock. but i busted up his balls. but the new moves you learned along the way surely came in handy. for as hard as it was it did give you a lot of opportunities and a lot of health. but you needed it for the difficulty of this game. rock on kenseiden. it also had one of the coolest endings you can see for an 8-bit game. very well put together. you deserves an honorable 10 Hayoto!
